WHO WE ARE:
Founded in 1938, Alliance Française de Bombay (AF Bombay) is the official French language institute and cultural centre in Mumbai. A non-profit organisation, AF Bombay works under a Board of Directors (presided over by Mr. Nadir Godrej), in close association with the French Embassy in India, and the Alliances Françaises Foundation in Paris, with an aim to promote Franco-Indian relations in the fields of education and culture.
Since its foundation 85 years ago, AF Bombay has been a liaison between Mumbai and France through its diverse educational & cultural endeavours. AF Bombay is the 8th biggest Alliance Française in the world which caters to over 5,000 students each year. Known for its highly qualified teachers, the latest teaching methodology, and for bringing prestigious cultural projects to promote holistic learning, AF Bombay is your one stop destination to immerse yourself in French language and culture.

Disseminating contemporary French and francophone cultures
Promoting diversity and strengthening Indo-French relations
AF Bombay is also an integral part of Mumbai’s rich arts community. It organises a wide selection of events each year that attracts thousands of attendees, in partnership with leading cultural institutions in the city. The cultural department works across diverse fields such as performing arts, literary arts, visual arts, as well as architecture & heritage.
AF Bombay also houses a French Library, a cosy 67 seater auditorium, and the office of Campus France in Mumbai – the French National Agency for Education in France that guides Indian students who wish to study in France.
