The French Information Resource Centre of the Alliance Française de Bombay has a mission: “Bringing France closer home“. It serves as the landmark of Information on different aspects of France.
Established in a quite cosy space, our resource centre is a network of information resources on subjects such as literature, theatre, poetry, social sciences, tourism, arts,architecture, life style in France. It is also provided with numerous French textbooks and dictionaries aimed at the students and easy French books for the beginners. Several French newspapers and magazines are also available.
The dominant part of the collection is in French but we intend to increase the proportion of books in English. The French Information Resource centre proposes more than 7300 books and around 1300 audio and video supports. All the major works of French literature from the origins to nowadays and poetry are available along with comics and non-fiction. The resource centre is also provided with numerous French textbooks and dictionaries meant for the students and easy French books for the beginners.
Among the audio material one can find the classic standards along with Chanson française and contemporary music of various styles. The DVD section of the resource centre is endowed with classic French films recent creations and documentaries. Exhibitions, cultural events, academic counseling and lectures are organized in the library which thus becomes a place of permanent cultural and educational exchanges.
