“Groove to the tunes of the Réunionese musical revolution — Ziskakan at AF Bombay”

Alliance Française de Bombay, in association with Exodus, are excited to present the popular Maloyan band — Ziskakan for a talk & intimate jam session.

Ziskakan is best known for their Réunionese style (akin to the Blues band with Créole influences of the Island) mixed with Madagascar and Indian music, African Drums and Créole lyrics. The group brings the cultural diversity of Reunion Island to audiences around the world and is widely acclaimed for their meaningful lyrics and soulful island tunes.

The artists will participate in a short discussion with the audience before their performance at AF Bombay.

ABOUT THE BAND:

Ziskakan, a popular Maloyan band with strong roots from Reunion Island was founded in 1979. They have performed at Olympia Hall, one of the most legendary music venues in Paris. The band is a recipient of some of the most prestigious awards, including the Best group and artist award in Africa (1994), Best African Group and Artist at Kora Awards(1997) and Best group at the Cesars de la Musique in 2007.

Ziskakan have performed in New Delhi, Mauritius, Seychelles, United states, London and Brussels outside the Island.
