Quand on vous aime comme ça captures the collision of realist and expressionist aesthetics as we explore the fortunes and misfortunes of the women who graced these iconic cabaret stages. From being both despised and fantasised about, these muses shaped ‘Années folles’ – the dynamic decade of 1920s France that witnessed monumental artistic, social, and cultural changes – as well as the dark times that followed.

Perfectly suited for audiences of all ages, Quand on vous aime comme ça is a musical experience that beckons you to an enchanting era of French Melody, German Lied, Kabarett and Café-Concert classics from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Featuring original arrangements for the accordion and piano, and the timeless voices of renowned masterpieces, this program celebrates humoristic and touching songs by Marie Dubas, Fréhel, Yvette Guilbert, and more. Dive into ‘expressionist’ lieder by Zemlinsky and Schoenberg, German operetta arias, and iconic Art Songs by Hahn, Roussel, Debussy, Ravel, and many others.
