In partnership with G5A, Wallonie-Bruxelles International, and the Consulate General of Belgium; we present a workshop on ‘Making Musical Instruments from Abandoned Objects’ by the Belgian artist Max Vandervorst.

For Max, creating music is a natural act and performing together is not something reserved for specialists. He ‘hijacks’ everyday objects and recycles waste materials for musical purposes. The goal is not to provide a cheap substitute for ‘real’ instruments, but to foster artistic creativity. A typical workshop uses salvaged objects such as plastic bottles, tin cans, paper, or cardboard to build one or several simple instruments. This is followed by individual experimentation and collective playing along with the possibility of creating music in sub-groups and ending with a mini-concert!
