Alliance Française de Bombay brings to you an exclusive screening of ‘Lalanna’s Song’ – a short film by filmmaker Megha Ramaswamy, produced by Newton Cinema.
Lalanna’s Song is a cautionary look into small acts of hate taking place in this age of abundance. Two young mothers, Miriam and Shoby, encounter twelve-year-old Lalanna whose ways unwittingly unsettle them, and they take deceptively small measures in setting her straight.
This film screening will be followed by a Q&A session with filmmaker Megha Ramaswamy.
The film premiered at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles 2022 where it won Special Mention for Innovation and Pushing Boundaries

About the Filmmaker:
Megha Ramaswamy is an Indian film director and writer associated with films like ‘Shaitan’. Having made her debut as a screenwriter in 2011, she transitioned into filmmaking with her directorial feature debut ‘What Are The Odds’ on Netflix. Her first two shorts, ‘Newborns’ (2014) and ‘Bunny’ (2015), both had their world premieres at Toronto International Film Festival. Her documentary, The Last Music Store (2016), won the audience Best Documentary award at South Asian International Film Festival. Her films have traveled to several Indian and international festivals including Clermont-Ferrand, and Cork, winning top honors for their powerful storytelling and innovative technique.
