ABOUT THE FILMS:

1. LA PETITE ET LE VIEUX ( 17 March )

Comedy drama | 105 min | 2024 | Quebec, Canada

Directed by: Patrice Sauvé

Production: Parallaxes

Synopsis: 1980s, Quebec. Her name is Hélène, but she calls herself Jo because she wants to be like Joséphine La Petite Mousquetaire, her favorite cartoon heroine. Jo is only ten years old, has three sisters, a father who is very busy being unhappy and an understanding but strict mother. She lives in a working-class neighborhood populated by often colorful people, the most endearing of whom is her new neighbour, Monsieur Roger, a gruff old man who hides a tender heart. With her romantic soul and an imagination eager for great dramas, Jo would also like to achieve great feats. One day, she gives herself the mission of saving her father from work and unhappiness.

Note: Francis Paradis, Director of the Québec Government Office in Mumbai will introduce the film

2. ESSENTIALS ( 18 March )

Documentary | 52 min | 2023 | Quebec, Canada

Directed by: Ky Vy Le Duc

Production: Picbois productions

Synopsis: By telling the story of asylum seekers and temporary workers who work in precarious jobs, Essentiels reveals their vulnerability while exposing our dependence on their services. These people feed us and take care of us at low cost and in difficult conditions. This hard-hitting film makes us realize that many sectors of our society function thanks to an immigrant workforce who agree to live in precarious conditions in the hope that their sacrifices will provide a better life for their loved ones.
