Hiroshima mon amour, by Alain Resnais (92’)
Written by the famous playwright Marguerite Duras, Hiroshima mon amour is the story of a French actress filming an anti-war film in Hiroshima and her affair with a married Japanese architect. The movie is the documentation of their intensely personal conversation about memory and forgetfulness. It was a major catalyst for the Nouvelle Vague (French New Wave), making highly innovative use of miniature flashbacks to create a uniquely nonlinear storyline.
