Alliance Française de Bombay in collaboration with The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) brings the first URBAN CLIMATE FILM FESTIVAL to Mumbai!

Organised through the CITIIS program under the engagement events of U20 (the urban track of G20), the festival will showcase the impact of climate change on life in cities around the world.

ENTRY TO THE FESTIVAL IS FREE & OPEN FOR ALL

 

3 DAYS | 16 FILMS | 8 COUNTRIES 

Launched in New Delhi in March 2023, the film festival is being organised through the CITIIS program under the engagement events of U20 (the urban track of G20). The festival is supported by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the French Development Agency (AFD), and the European Union.

After a successful run in Delhi, the film festival is now travelling to Mumbai!

27 April | 4.30 pm onwards

The inaugural ceremony, followed by the launch screening, will take place at Alliance Française de Bombay, in the presence of, Jean-Marc Séré Charlet — The Consul General of France in Mumbai,
Hitesh Vaidya — Director of NIUA,
Naim Keruwala — Program Director of CITIIS and other dignitaries.

28 April – 29 April | 10.30 am – 5.15 pm

Screening of a curated selection of award-winning films, complemented by interactive sessions & Q&As with experts and filmmakers.

The global call for entries for the festival had received an overwhelming response with 150 films submitted from over 20 countries. These were evaluated by a jury that shortlisted 27 films from 12 countries for screening at the festival. The jury comprised of:

-Dr Surbhi Dahiya (Professor, Indian Institute of Mass Communication)
-Dr Pranab Patar (Chief Executive, Global Foundation for Advancement of Environment)
-Mr Sabyesachi Bharti (Deputy Director, CMS Vatavaran)

OBJECTIVES OF THE FESTIVAL:

– Employ the powerful medium of film to enlighten audiences about the environmental, social and economic impacts of climate change on urban settlements.

– Spark conversations about building climate-resilient cities and invite inputs from the public.

– Encourage citizens to undertake “environmentally responsible behaviours” in line with the U20 Priority Areas and the Hon. Prime Minister’s clarion call through the LiFE Mission.

ABOUT CITIIS

The CITIIS (City Investments to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain) program, launched in 2018, is a joint program of the Government of India’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), the French Development Agency (AFD), the European Union, and NIUA. The program is assisting 12 Indian cities across India to implement integrated, innovation-driven and sustainable urban infrastructure projects, some of which have components dedicated to benefit the ecosystem, improve air and water quality, protect indigenous flora and fauna, and foster urban biodiversity.
