ASTAD DEBOO and DARSHANA JHAVERI

In conversation with ARUNDHATHI SUBRAMANIAM

Apr 30th (Tue), 6:30 pm, Theosophy Hall

On the occasion of International Dance day, join us along with the beej garage for the launch of the Parallel Journeys series which brings artists together in conversation wherein they share their artistic journeys, their struggles, questions and insights!

For this session, two pioneers in their own right – Darshana Zaveri (an exponent of the Manipuri Dance) and Astad Deboo (contemporary dancer and choreographer) – will share insights into dance history looking at changing notions of classical and contemporary in Indian dance over decades. We also hope to get cross-cultural insights into embodiment, going against the norm, and establishing one’s unique practice. The poet and dance critic Arundhathi Subramaniam will be steering the conversation.

About the beej garage
