Photography contest: Hidden Treasures of Mumbai

2.jpg
City: Mumbai
Date: Sun, 2012/07/01 (All day) - Fri, 2012/08/17 (All day)

From July 1st till August 17th
Photography contest: “Hidden Treasures of Mumbai”
For the second edition of the Monsoon Project, the Alliance Française de Bombay launches a photography contest to celebrate the cultural, architectural, historical and artistic heritage of Mumbai.
The theme of the contest is “Hidden Treasures of Mumbai” which is inspired from the official theme “Hidden Heritage” chosen this year by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication for the annual event “Les Journées Européennes du Patrimoine”. This event, created in 1984, is a great occasion for all French and European citizens to celebrate a shared memory and to demonstrate the interest they show in the history of their cities and arts.

Mumbaikars and Mumbai lovers, it's time for you to bring out your cameras and be a part of this exciting project by sharing your secret places in Mumbai and exhibiting them in their best light.

Backstages, attics, projection room, hidden places, suburban corners, unknown gullys, factories… all the invisible and mostly undiscovered places that make up the heritage that is Mumbai. Study the plan of the city or let your lens capture a unique view from a height. Unveil places that were normally hidden  (recording studios, backstages, hidden building in ruins...) Find secrets forgotten in another time. Discover hidden treasures or the unknown side of known places.

The Alliance Française de Bombay is pleased to reward the three best photographers with the following prizes: a three months course for the winner, a workshop at Alliance Française de Bombay for the second finalist and a book on photography for the third finalist.
To participate, send us 6 photos which you feel best represent Mumbai's hidden heritage, before August 17th. The photos, selected by the jury composed of professional photographers, will be exhibited on the occasion of the “Heritage Days”, organized by the Alliance Française de Bombay in September.

THE CONTEST IS OPEN TO EVERYONE. You can register with us (to sign the competition rules) before August 17th. You must not be a professional photographer and guarantee that the pictures you submit are originals and unpublished, that you own the rights for them.
