Cinema La danse, le ballet de l’Opéra de Paris by F. Wiseman

This endless  film about the Paris Opera Ballet was shot at the Palais Garnier opera house during three months and covers diverse artistic, technical and administrative aspects.

While mixing rushes from rehearsals at the studio, office meetings, and corridor conversations as well as several excerpts from performances, master documentary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman succeed in showing the complex mechanism of a mythical cultural institution, without any commentary. The opera house is filmed as a city within a city, as a fortress in the heart of Paris.
