Half a billion Francophones around the world will celebrate International Day of Francophonie on 20 March. This event began in 1998 as a way for the 49 members of Francophone countries to celebrate their common bond, the French language, as well as their diversity. The International Organisation of La Francophonie represents one of the biggest linguistic zones in the world. Its members share more than just a common language. They also share the humanist values. The French language and its values represent the two cornerstones on which the International Organisation of La Francophonie is based.

This year, Alliance Française along with the Consulates of Belgium, Quebec, Switzerland and France will unit to honour French language values in a week-long festival bringing you films from the French speaking world.

The inter-municipal school of Derrière-Pertuis is on a ridge of the Jura mountain range bordering Val-de-Ruz in the canton of Neuchâtel. Located in a hamlet where there are only five houses, at an altitude of 1153 meters, it is in the center of a region its inhabitants call «The Mountain», in a unique position in remote pastureland. In this enduring landscape, the furthest edge of the canton on the border of the Bernese Franches-Montagnes, Tableau noir chronicles life at the school over one year, focusing on the pupils, aged six to twelve, who share the same class, along with their successes and failures.
