Echoing European Heritage Days, Alliance Française de Bombay will propose several free guided tours in different parts of Mumbai in September as part of our annual Heritage Walks initiative.

10 am sharp on 15th Sept (Sat)

Meeting Point – Girgaon Portuguese Church

Khotachiwadi was founded in the late 18th century by a Pathare Prabhu called ‘Khot’ who sold plots of land to local East Indian families. This quaint enclave with Portuguese-style houses was a saviour during the plague due to its proximity to the beach. Declared a grade III heritage precinct in 1995, Kotachiwadi is also where you will find the studio of the internationally renowned James Ferreira. We have the good luck of being invited to visit his studio. The tour will be conducted in English by André Baptista (Visiting Faculty for Archaeology at the Kamla Raheja Vidynidhi Institute of Architecture and Environmental Studies, Juhu).

Free and open to everyone | Limited seats | Registration compulsory and strictly on a first-come first-serve basis via communication.mumbai@afindia.org
