La Religieuse / The Nun by Guillaume Nicloux (112′)

Based on a novel written by the philosopher Denis Diderot, this film tells the story of Suzanne in eighteenth-century France. Forced against her will to take vows as a nun, she will face oppression and torment, leading her to fight back and expose the dehumanizing effect of cloistered life.
