ombre-des-masquesA l’ombre des masques by Valéry Gaillard (52′)
African art has today been reduced to smuggling merchandise and tourist souvenirs. These masks represent a great generation of artists spanning almost 50 years. Around the same time that Africa started marching towards industrialization and emancipation from colonial governments, artists began to change as well, mixing the sacred and the profane, travelling around the world and creating the art of today.
